In today’s newsletter you’ll learn:
- How to do the Discord Dance
- Don’t put an X through Twitter
- The Secret NFT Marketing Site
- A Facebook group bonanza
Before you launch a new NFT collection, there is a lot of setup that needs to be done to assure your marketing efforts get you off on the right foot. This newsletter will share more about the pre-launch process, or what to do before you launch.
Feel free to copy this NFT marketing template and use it as a checklist when you launch your new NFT collection…
This will help get your NFT marketing up and running on Discord, Reddit, Twitter, and even some tips on Facebook!
Keep in mind that while I’m calling these “setups”, it’s not literally how to setup a Twitter or Discord, but more what to do with them as you open them up.
The Discord Dance: Setup & How-To’s
- Ensure full setup of your Discord, including appropriate channels, private team channels, and whatever else you feel important.
- To do: install custom bots, prepare marketing graphics, write FAQs, gather your links, verification bots, and max server boosters for custom banners/images. Also do your role/mod setups with a comprehensive list of categories/channels.
- Discuss and plan for incentive plans and pre-sale mechanisms. Are you including whitelists, or pre-launch special offers? The more announcements you include at first, the better.
- Determine invitation/referral incentive plans, moderator incentive plans, titles, etc..
- Ensure a minimum number of followers to build credibility (e.g., 3k)
- Real members are crucial, at the same time if you do not get enough traction in the first few days of marketing, consider buying some cheap followers to help with the optics. You can slowly phase them out after real growth.
- Decide where you’ll find mods… ie: poach from competitors by offering incentives, and/or promote from within the community. Team MUST be continuously cultivating moderators and promoting star performers. (they need not be paid, recognition goes a long way)
- Sub-channel daily games (Trivia Bot, Guess the Number, Shill Events, minigames relevant to theme) with NFT giveaways or? as prizes. Determine frequency and who will run.
- Will you have NFT giveaways and incentives for the community?
- Ensure you have a 24/7 team to drive conversation in the chat. People will join an unknown Discord, but will only stay if they see activity. Potentially set a x minutes minimum before mods converse.
- Plan and host AMAs once (1x) per week (preferably at a fixed time) to cultivate the community and gain their trust. Make sure to host an AMA prior to day of mint.
- Determine if you’ll also create a Telegram. It’s not as flexible, but some parts of the globe are more pulled to Telegram than Discord.
Your marketing strategy and content uploaded should be consistent across platforms. It’s especially important to have similar outreach levels across Discord/Twitter when you can. Discord should drive to Twitter, and visa versa!
NFT Discord Community Outreach
- Create a list of competitor Discords to target. Your team should create a list of 50+ biggest appropriate Discords as well as the next 20+ active and upcoming Discords. These can be used for shilling, finding collabs, and more.
- Engage the community to shill the existing project on other channels with an invite and shill reward system. (contest, ongoing etc.)
- Collaborations: Partner with similar groups and announce them with an “@everyone” tag to notify all members under a subchannel dedicated to each persons’ project. (or one “collabs” channel?) Only large projects should get a separate channel.
- Set a goal and try to find a minimum of 5 new collaborations per day. (at first)
- DMs: 5 channels are targeted each day with at least 20 members from each channel targeted (those most active in general chat). Each member needs to be dm’d and sent a personal invitation.
- We found manually shilling in Discord networks to be helpful in getting organic member inflows. Best to target competitor servers and identify most active members/mods and try and convert them over by doing manual shills, and dm’s.
- Discord advertising channels. There are a lot of channels that charge small $ amounts to post on your behalf. They are usually huge channels, but be cautious, many are created with fake profiles. Create a list of these Discord advertising channels, the cost to advertise, and provide recommendation on which ones to target. The low price makes some worth trying.
Don’t put an X through Twitter
- Ensure that Twitter is always actively engaged, not only for posting, but for dm’s and re-posting.
- One post every 2 hours at a minimum (including collab posts) should be strived for, and you can use content posting tools like SocialPilot.
- Ensure that your Twitter account is following relevant NFT authorities and introducing them our project. Many projects follow back whoever follows them, so by following others you’ll sometimes get fans in return.
- Try to do at least 20 outreaches per day for NFT authority accounts and follow-ups. Follows, as well as DMs and #/@ can work. Create a list of the most important NFT authorities and ensure they are constantly updated. Be creative with these, and consider Twitter collabs as well.
- Do giveaways on Twitter independent of your Discord giveaways, which will generally attract an audience. Try to have at least one competition running a day that requires retweets / tag 3 friends / follows.
- Don’t only follow, but make sure that your Twitter/X is commenting on large name Tweets. Many will follow those who comment, but it’s also a GREAT way to get your comment and info in front of their communities and people. Comment at least 20x per day on a list of famous and relevant tweets.
- Create meme competitions, as well as other contests to get potential new members to engage with your account. One competition per day is good. Don’t let yourself think “it’s too often”, because your goal is to find/reach new prospects daily.
- Do mutual giveaways with competitors as collabs, and coordinate with your Discord collabs.
Reddit: the Secret NFT Marketing Site
I call this a “secret”, because while most anyone who spends time online has landed on Reddit in the past, in the NFT industry it seems to be either forgotten or ignored. Heck, Reddit has their OWN NFT collection, how can you ignore that!?
To start, setup a reddit community named after your project. This will be useful for hosting events, doing shill campaigns and more. The trick to Reddit is being creative and thinking a bit out of the box.
Here are a few tips on how to use Reddit to market NFTS:
- Purchase a high karma account and post on subreddits linked to NFTs — like NFTs marketplace, Solana, NFT, etc.. Name your account something that tells a bit about your project, and jump into the conversations. Just chat, don’t shill too heavy… you want people to become interested in what you have to offer, and follow back to your group.
- Keep posting on your own subreddit/community at least once per day to get some activity started. You can coordinate this with other users within your program and create somewhat “fake” conversations… which is fine to get started. (DWIT!)
- Posts should be from a soft shill angle and the top comment should direct back to the project. You eventually want your project to be talked about in other groups. Here are some upvote services — https://soar.sh (can even pay in crypto)
- Get your shill team to start posting a pre-written ad-message around large subreddits and twitters and discord communities.
- Reddit posts should be refreshed every 2–3 days to keep them active. This isn’t hard to do if you have a few people or accounts at you4r disposal.
I know, this sounds like hard work, dunnit? It is.
I guess this is a good time to point out the above. If you have more money than time, either do paid ads or hire someone to do all of this for you. Leveraging SMM is hard work. But it’s FREE!
Facebook Group Bonanza
Works the same as Reddit , and the “trick” isn’t to spam, but to spend time daily chatting in each group. After people realize that you can help them somehow, or contribute, they will follow you back to your group or profile.
Of course, MAKE SURE your profile has info about your NFT launch!
Many Facebook groups will let you JOIN with a group/page name, instead of your personal name. If your page is named after your NFT collection, each post is free advertising.
So with this strategy, you will join every group on facebook related to the word “NFT” and then you can soft-shill the project or just become a valued member. This alone with bring you people.
It’s best done with a group of 3–5 people to consistently comment and up vote/like each other’s posts. Again… this strategy costs zero dollars…
Here are some Facebook NFT groups to get your started:
